The Torah You Can Keep Today (Jew + Gentile)

Torah isn’t a grim list of “religious rules.” It’s God’s covenant roadmap—His revealed wisdom for how human beings (Jew and Gentile alike) live loyal to Him in real life: worship that isn’t divided, rest that re-centers the soul, love that has teeth, speech that doesn’t poison communities, justice that protects the weak, money that doesn’t become an idol, and holiness that shows up in the kitchen, bedroom, and marketplace.

Here’s what basic common sense should settle: Torah isn’t “gone.” It’s not a dusty Old Testament artifact that gets erased when you turn the page to Matthew. It runs through the entire Bible like a backbone. The prophets call Israel back to it. Yeshua teaches it, embodies it, and deepens it. The apostles apply it to real communities—including Gentiles—and even when they confront abuses, they never declare God’s instruction obsolete. What gets condemned in Scripture isn’t Torah—it’s hypocrisy, man-made additions, and lawlessness dressed up as “freedom.”

The problem has never been God’s law; the problem is what our hearts do with it—either twisting it into self-righteousness or rejecting it like it’s evil. Scripture says the opposite: the commandments are good and wise, they expose what’s crooked in us, and they train us to walk in God’s ways with joy and integrity. So read these laws slowly—not as a ladder to “earn” salvation, but as a mirror and a compass. If you actually read the whole Bible, you’ll see it: Torah didn’t disappear—it’s everywhere.

Matthew 5:17–19

“Don’t you dare imagine I came to cancel the Torah or the Prophets. I didn’t come to shred God’s words—I came to fill them full, to live them out, to confirm their truth, and to set them firmly in place. Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest stroke of God’s instruction falls to the ground. So whoever loosens even the ‘least’ of these commands and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom—but whoever guards them and teaches them will be called great.”

Before you run with this list, hear me clearly: many of these commands require context and honest definitions, not lazy slogans. “Support ministry” doesn’t automatically mean “fund a modern church institution”—it means resourcing God’s work and caring for people the way Scripture actually describes (including the poor, the stranger, and faithful laborers). “Do not murder” isn’t a ban on protecting your family; it’s a ban on unlawful bloodguilt, hatred-driven violence, and treating human life as cheap. Same with “judge,” “separate,” “holy,” “Sabbath,” “tithes,” even “unclean/clean”—these have Torah context, Second Temple context, and apostolic application that deserve careful study. So don’t treat this as a quick checklist; treat it as a doorway. I’m going to keep unpacking these one by one—because if we’re serious about Scripture, we should be serious enough to understand what God actually meant.
